How Tall is Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua is a sporting star, a British icon, and has one of the best boxing resumes out of the current generation of heavyweights and has shown grit and determination when in the ring.

He is one of the taller heavyweight boxers and comfortably holds his own when compared to his boxing opponents, often standing taller. So let's find out his height claim, and see how he stacks up to his opponents, to find out how tall Anthony Joshua really is.

Anthony Joshua stands 6'6" (198.1 cm) tall. His height varies between 6'5.75"-6'6.5" throughout the day but holds 6'6" for a large portion of it. Out of the current top 10 heavyweights (2023), he stands 4th tallest, and he also has a huge reach of 6'10 which is a great advantage in the ring!

Height Claim

n 2018 Anthony went on CONAN on TBS, and during the interview, their conversation goes like this:

  1. Conan: "I've interviewed a lot of fighters in my life. You are, I think the tallest fighter. Klitschko is big, but how tall are you?"
  2. Anthony Joshua: six foot six, six foot seven"

They then proceed to talk about height and boxing, detailing how the development of the system has changed with the size of fighters. Take a look below!

Other Info

Anthony was born in Watford, UK, on the 5th of October 1989. He has 3 siblings, Jacob Joshua, Janet Joshua, and Loretta Joshua (who are average to above average height).

He usually weighs 111 kg/244.8 pounds/17.5 stone, or thereabouts for fights. He has a reach of 82 inches (208.2 cm), which is 3 inches shorter than Tyson Fury's, but still huge, equalling a whooping 6'10"! This might be why he is often able to keep his distance during fights, as his reach is 4 inches above his height!

Height Comparisons

Let's compare Anthony's height to some of his opponents!

Wladimir Klitschko 6'5.5" (196.9 cm)

Anthony Josua fought Klitschko, who is roughly 6'5.5" tall, in 2017. In their face-offs before their fight, at the weigh-in, and also in the ring, Anthony looks to be around 0.5 inches taller than him, this puts his height at 6'6".

Oleksandr Usyk 6'2.75" (189.9 cm)

Anthony has fought  Usky 2 times now, in 2021 and 2022. During their face-offs, we can see that Usyk is a decent amount shorter than Anthony, in fact, the top of his head reaches around Anthony's eyebrows, which equals to roughly a 3-3.5 inch difference. This puts Anthony somewhere in the 6'6" region.

Eddie Hearn 6'4" (193 cm)

Anthony's promotor/manager is a large man himself, but when he stands next to Joshua, he is easily topped height-wise and looks a good 2 inches shorter than him most of the time. Joshua looks like a legitimate 6'6" with Eddie.

Floyd Mayweather 5'7.25" (170.8 cm)

Anthony's opponents are big men, and when compared to them it doesn't emphasize how tall he is. If however, we take a look at his meetings with Floyd Mayweather, we can see that he is almost a whole head taller than him! He comfortably looks 6'6" with Floyd.

Height Compared To The Top 10 Heavyweight Boxers

The current top 10 heavyweight rankings (2023) are filled with tall men. Let's take a look at where Anthony's height stacks up against them!

  4. Anthony Joshua, Rank 4,  6'6" (198.1 cm)

Anthony Joshua ranks joint 4th tallest on the list. The average height of the top 10 tallest heavyweight boxers is 194.1 cm which is roughly 6'4.5". Joshua stands 1.5 inches taller than this, so is taller than the average top-10 heavyweight boxer.

Conclusion

After seeing the height he claimed on TV, and looking at some height comparisons, I conclude that Anthony Joshua's real height is 6'6", and he stands around this height all day long. He also has an above-average height for a heavyweight boxer, and a really long reach to use to his advantage in the ring!
