Being one of the talk show kings, Jimmy Kimmel has stood next to many celebrities in his years on air. He has also rarely looked shorter than average, and sometimes he has looked surprisingly tall.
Yet he has claimed to be 6'1" on more than one occasion, and the question is, is he really close to this height, or just inflating it like many other celebrities of the modern era...
So, how tall is he really?
Jimmy Kimmel stands at 5'11.25 (181 cm) tall the majority of the day. He wakes up at 5'11.75", falling to 5'11.25 throughout the daytime, and dropping to 5'11" at night time. Also, his talk show is filmed live at 7 pm, to which he would be standing close to his low height for the day.
His Height Claims
Throughout the years, similar to Justin Timberlake, Jimmy's most common height claim has been 6 feet 1. He has also claimed to be 6 feet tall, but never under this mark.
One instance of him doing so is him stating that on his first driver's license he was listed at 6'1". But this was most likely self-reported, again showing he decided to say that he was 6'1" tall at the time.
Regarding his claim, he has most likely gone with the standard 2 inch height inflation that a lot of celebrities use. However, this claim was shattered when being measured with Kevin Hart (see below)
His Measurement With Kevin Hart
In 2020, when preparing to train with the Harlem Globetrotter basketball team, alongside Kevin Hart, Jimmy's height was measured at a mobile body fat unit and without shoes at 5'11.75.
Although a far cry from his 6'1" claims, the issue with this measurement is that is was not on even flooring, and we cannot see where the tape measure ends. The tape measure was also stuck to the wall, and may not be fully stretched out. Finally, the woman measuring him only used one hand (lacking stability), and a cardboard box that looked to slope it unevenly above his head.
During the show Kevin Hart was measured at 4'5.25", which is overexaggerated by 2+ inches, so we can also assume that Jimmy's height was inaccurate in this clip, and also he most likely kept his slippers on, raising the height of the measurement.
One thing to note is that when this measurement was called, although he didn't look happy, Jimmy didn't dispute it.
In other words he knows he is not even close to the height of 6'1" that he has claimed for decades.
Next to Other Celebs
Fortunately, being a talk show host, there are some very clear examples of his height next to other celebrities.
Kobe Bryant 6'4.75" (194.9 cm)
Kobe's wife Vanessa Bryant once stated he was 6'4.75", and I'm not going to argue with this. So, with this accurate measurement, we can compare Jimmy's height.
When standing next to Kobe Bryant on his show, Jimmy looks a clear 6 inches shorter than him. However, at the time Kobe was wearing basketball sneakers giving him slightly more height than Jimmy's shoes. So, with Kobe Jimmy looks like a flat 5'11" man.
Jimmy Fallon 5'11.5 (181.6 cm)
When standing next to each other, in comparing Jimmy Kimmel with fellow talk show host Jimmy Fallon, there is a slight height difference between them, with Fallon clearly the taller of the two men. It appears to be a difference of around half an inch, which would place Kimmel at 5'11".
However, when examining their shoes, Fallon does tend to wear thicker heels than Kimmel, so this could lower the height difference to just a 1/4 of an inch.
In other words, with Fallon, Kimmel appears between 5'11" and 5'11.25" tall.
James Cordon 5'8.25" (173.4 cm)
When next to James Cordon, Kimmel looks 3 inches taller - no more, no less. This places him at 5'11.25" inches tall.
The Results
So, with the celebrities that Kimmel stands next to, he appears in the 5'11-5'11.25" range of height.
The Bottom Line
When comparing Kimmel's height claim of 6 feet 1 to his measurement of 5'11.75" (most likely with slippers on), and to other celebrities standing next to him, it is clear he is under 6 feet tall.
I believe he wakes up in the morning at 5'11.75", and holds 5'11.25" throughout the day, going to bed at 5'11" at night. As his talk show is filmed live at 7 pm, he would be standing between 5'11-5'11.25 inches tall, and I will list him at 5'11.25 (181 cm) on this page.
