Regarding these height claims, there is little reason for her to lie about her height. She is already tall, and if anything, she is being modest when claiming both 5'9" and 5'9.5". Although, I believe she may measure near to 5'9.5" in the evening before sleeping.

Charlize has a long, slender frame, making it easy to overestimate her height. So, let's compare her height next to some other celebrities to gain a more thorough understanding of how tall she really is.
Chris Hemsworth 6'3" (190.5 cm)
Starring together in The Huntsman films, there are many pics of Chris and Charlize standing together at premiers, etc.
For instance, at the premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman, Charlize was wearing large heels giving her around 4 inches of height, with Chris wearing regular dress shoes providing him 1 inch of height and standing at roughly 6'4" in them. The same applied at the Oscars when they presented together.
In both instances, she appears shorter than Chris by around 2 inches. This puts her height in the 5'10" range.

When Nicole and Charlize are standing next to each other and both wearing a similar-sized heel in the film Bombshell and also at various events such as the SAG awards, Nicole appears to be slightly taller by around 0.25-0.5 inches.
